I'm mostly a manager, though I come in on a few others to some degree or another.

Oooo, nice thread!

I am a combination of Wanderer/Zoner/Juggernaut, although Zoner mainly for other games (Bejeweled Deluxe, anyone?). I love the graphics and the fantasy story, and I like to play with a little challenge that I know I can eventually beat. I have made a few ingame-buddies, but is not why I play. PvP not for me, lol. Adrenaline makes me sweat too much, ewewew.

Wanderer/Manager

I enjoy just exploring and beating the game down to the last detail. I don't need the coolest or most expensive weapons as long as they work.

I am definitely a PvP hotshot. With builds that either win big or not at all (sin and other spike builds)

since MtG came up, I am a Johnny/Spike used to be a Timmy when i was younger

I'm sorry but these "archtypes" are absolutely bogus crap that plague people's judgment. They infiltrated management dogma from the mid 80's and early 90's (and caused no end of grief). It's stupid. It causes reductionist thinking: "oh they are a such-and-such, they wouldn't understand x-or-y". Frankly, its a scam, and I'm sorry you all fell for it.

If you read the article, these archtypes are theoretical (theres a big MAYBE as part of the blog title).

Many people are posting that they fit multiple templates and as such there is no definitely pigeonhole for every playertype.

Game designers need archtypes because they need to focus on who their target audience is. Its done through statistical and analytical research and observations and but the sample size and results will never reflect the COMPLETE gamut of all players simply because everyone is unique in their reasons and motivations for what gets them to play.

I can understand if you dislike stupid management types. But reductionist thinking does exist through stereotyping, racism, sexism, etc.

At least archtypes are based on research and usually towards a positive and productive result, rather than pure opinionated bias.

Maybe you need to direct your annoyance at ANY dogma in general.

Wanderer/Hoarder... The grandmaster cartographer who had so much money, he had to spend it all on black dye and then give it away to the first person who wanted it.
